- Naomi Ruth Boyd's lifelong dream came true when she stepped into heaven Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at about 2:30 a.m. Our family lost an angel; heaven gained an angel.
- Naomi was born May 28, 1933, to Elmer and Beryl Tierney in Elgin, Nebraska. She was the second of four children. On June 1, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, David K. Boyd. For 62 years and one week, he was the love of her life and soulmate. Their marriage was a living example of "two shall become one." They were blessed with four children: Rebecca Joy, Evangeline Ruth, Christy Jo (who went back to heaven at birth), and Kevin Kris David.
- Naomi's life was filled with loving, giving and serving and a healthy dose of adventure. She had an unshakable faith and trust in God. She was the best wife, mother and grandmother any family could have. Everyone she knew loved her wonderful cooking and baking, especially her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls and pies.
- In 1974, the family moved from Colorado to Fairbanks. They joined North Pole Missionary Fellowship in many various ministries during the next 43 years. In 1979, they moved into Mission House, where she, along with David, hosted many functions with her special loving hospitality. They were always traveling into the villages for services and held Bible studies at the Fairbanks jail for as long as her health permitted. Naomi also volunteered with the auxiliary at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for 20 years.
- Naomi leaves her loving husband of 62 years, David Boyd; one sister, Beverly Farr, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; two daughters, Rebecca (Dan) Saluri, of Mertzon, Texas; and Evangeline Fich, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one son, Kevin Boyd (Dawna), of North Pole; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, plus special bonus children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Christy Jo; parents, Elmer and Beryl Tierney; a sister, Barbara Tierney; and a brother, Eugene Tierney.
- The family wants to express their deepest appreciation to the wonderful staff at Eagles Wings Assisted Living and the hospice nurses for their loving, tender care. They have truly gone above and beyond the call of duty in the way they've loved and cared for our precious wife, mother and grandmother.
- Visitation will be from 4-7pm Friday, June 16, at Fairbanks Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, beginning with a viewing at 1pm followed by the service at 2pm at North Pole Missionary Chapel.
