Jordal was born at Odda, Hardanger, Norway, August 1, 1888, and died August 5, 1927, being 39 years old at the time of her death. Her parents were Jacob O. and Herborg S. Tokheim Jordal.She came to America in 1905, was married to John E. Ferkin in 1908, and has lived in Roland since that time. She had been in ill health for the past year and death came as a relief to end her suffering from disease.Besides her husband she leaves six children, Edwin 17, Hazel 14, Josephine 11, Ragna 9, Olaf 6, Marie 4. One child, Carl Peter, died in infancy. She also leaves her father and four brothers and sisters in Norway, and one brother, Sam Jordal, in Minneapolis.Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the residence and at Bergen church, Rev. T. T. Heimack of Story City, officiating in the absence of her pastor, Rev. M.O. Sumstad, who is away. The body was laid to rest in the Roland cemetery.Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral, were Mr. and Mrs. S. Jordal of Minneapolis, Ole Ferkin, Hans Ferkin, Lars Longfield, Mandius Longfield, Mrs. Abel Nelson, Mrs. Gus Johnson, Mrs. Knut Nockling, Mrs. Olaus Pederson, Mrs. Wilhelm Olson, and Mrs. Mike Mikelson of Marshalltown, Mrs. Geo Tokheim and Joseph T. Johnson of Story City, and Mr. Eitreim of Ellsworth."
